About Us
Our mission is to give homeowners clear, unbiased guidance on whole house water filtration — backed by real testing and verified expertise. We believe clean water decisions should be based on facts, not ad spend.
Whole Water Guide was founded in 2012 out of a straightforward frustration: finding honest, technically accurate information about whole house water filtration was nearly impossible. Most online resources were thinly veiled sales pages or forum speculation. We set out to change that by building a publication grounded in water science, hands-on testing, and transparent editorial standards.
Our core team includes a WQA-certified water quality specialist, a licensed plumber with two decades of residential installation experience, and a researcher with a background in environmental chemistry. Together, we bring a perspective that balances technical depth with practical, real-world usability. We’ve evaluated hundreds of systems — from entry-level sediment filters to whole house reverse osmosis units — and we approach each one the same way: methodically, skeptically, and without loyalty to any brand.
We test systems in actual homes when possible, and supplement hands-on evaluation with water lab reports, manufacturer documentation, and long-term reader feedback. When a system we recommended develops reliability issues six months later, we update our reviews. Our job doesn’t end at publication.
We are reader-supported. When you purchase through links on our site, we may earn a commission — but our editorial decisions are never influenced by affiliate relationships. If a product isn’t worth recommending, we say so plainly. That commitment to honesty is what has kept readers coming back for over a decade.
Our Review Process
1
Research
We analyze water quality reports, manufacturer specs, NSF/ANSI certifications, and independent lab data before a single product reaches our testing queue.
2
Test
We evaluate systems under real household conditions, measuring flow rate, contaminant reduction, filter life, and installation complexity over extended periods.
3
Review
Our findings are written in plain language, with clear pros and cons, direct comparisons, and a straightforward verdict — no padding, no hype.
4
Update
We revisit published reviews on a regular schedule and whenever significant reader feedback, product changes, or new competing systems warrant a reassessment.
