About Us
Our mission is to empower every homeowner with unbiased, rigorously tested guidance on whole house water filtration — because clean, safe water is a right, not a luxury. We do the hard work so you don’t have to.
Pure Flow Guide was born out of frustration. Our founder, Marcus Holloway, moved into a new home in 2011 and noticed his family’s skin was dry, their dishes were spotty, and the tap water had a faint but unmistakable odor. Like most homeowners, he turned to the internet for answers — and found nothing but contradictory advice, aggressive sales pitches, and reviews that were clearly written by people who had never touched a filter wrench. He decided to fix that.
Armed with a background in environmental science and a Water Quality Association certification, Marcus began systematically purchasing, installing, and testing whole house filtration systems in real homes. He tracked pressure drops, measured TDS reduction, analyzed micron ratings, and documented actual contaminant removal against manufacturer claims. What started as a personal spreadsheet became the foundation of Pure Flow Guide — a resource built entirely on data, not commissions or brand partnerships.
Today, our small but dedicated team includes a licensed plumber, a water chemistry analyst, and a technical writer who has covered home improvement for over a decade. Together, we’ve evaluated more than 320 filtration systems across every major category — sediment filters, carbon block systems, salt-free conditioners, UV purifiers, and multi-stage hybrid units. We source municipal water quality reports, cross-reference EPA contaminant databases, and conduct independent lab testing to validate what manufacturers promise on the box.
We’re transparent about how we operate. We do earn affiliate commissions on some products we recommend, but our editorial process is completely independent of those relationships — a system doesn’t make our list unless it earns it through testing. If we wouldn’t install it in our own homes, we won’t recommend it for yours. That’s the standard we hold ourselves to, every single day.
Our Review Process
1
Research
We analyze EPA water quality data, NSF certifications, manufacturer specs, and thousands of verified customer reports before a single unit arrives at our door.
2
Test
Every system we feature is physically installed in a residential setting where we measure flow rate, pressure loss, filtration efficiency, and real-world contaminant reduction using certified lab analysis.
3
Review
Our reviews are written by niche experts who present findings in plain English — no jargon walls, no vague praise, just clear pros, cons, and a direct recommendation.
4
Update
We revisit every published review at least annually, refreshing pricing, availability, and performance data to ensure our recommendations stay accurate as the market evolves.
